'Festooning Bees'

'Festooning Bees' - S/S 2014 - Originally a lino cut, this pattern depicts the way bees festoon (hang onto each others legs) in the hive. There are many explanations as to why bees festoon, some say it is to measure the distance between frames, others say to create a scaffold for the comb to be built. However the exact reason is still unknown.
